On Saturday we took the Metro to the National Zoo. We were delighted to learn that admission is always FREE! This was a good thing because we didn't feel like we'd wasted our money when the girls were ready to leave just a couple hours after we got there. :) It was a hot and sticky day, but we enjoyed seeing some of the zoo and walking in a pretty place.
Probably the highlight was the panda exhibit since it is, I think, the only place in the US where you can see pandas. We were surprised at how dirty this fellow looked- I thought pandas were supposed to be black and white, not brown and black. But still, we saw him, and really he was doing something more interesting than most zoo animals do- climbing this tree instead of sitting in a pile of fur on the ground.
"Smile for the camera, Emma!"

EB! Don't you know we have pandas in San Diego too? They are bigger, stronger, and healthier pandas than the ones in D.C., because, really, where would you rather live--D.C. or S.D.?
